Saudi national Rahaf Mohammed Alqunun, 18, was set to be sent back to her family in Kuwait but has cited fear for her life and demanded refugee protection. She barricaded herself in her room at a transit hotel in the Bangkok airport. Thai immigration officials now say they will not forcibly deport her if it "would result in her death," and will coordinate with the U.N.'s refugee agency.
