The First Tee of Greater Washington, DC Needs Your Support

The following is a message from one of our partners. This message does not represent the opinion of The Washington Times. Dear Friend,  I am Jack Vardaman, Board Chairman of The First Tee of Greater Washington, DC. Since 1999, our chapter has grown tremendously and expanded from the District of Columbia to include Northern Virginia, Montgomery County and now with Prince George's County beginning in 2019. Through that expansion we have served hundreds of thousands of area youth, teaching them life skills and The First Tee Nine Core Values through the game of golf. Our chapter has received national recognition as one of the best in the country. This year, we provided over 1,600 young people across the area the opportunity to develop life-enhancing values on the golf course.  For the 6th consecutive year, our Chapter will have a participant—this year we will have two—at the Pure Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach. We have awarded over $100,000 in college scholarships since 2014 and one of our kids was named an Evans Scholar in 2018 and received a full scholarship to Penn State.
