World Alert: U.S. troops begin to withdraw from Syrian posts ahead of Turkish incursion

A U.S. official said the U.S. troops had left observation posts in the border villages of Tel Abyad and Ras al-Ayn at 6:30 a.m., following the State Department announcement of plans to pull out. Turkey has said it will move into northern Syria to establish a safe zone to resettle refugees and clear out "terrorists." Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the U.S. pullout began after he spoke with President Trump.
