'Confidential' emails were already cleared for public release
Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) posted on their websites Thursday morning Brett M. Kavanaugh's emails that they claimed had been withheld from the public. But those documents were cleared earlier Thursday morning. The drama over the emails engulfed much of the third day of Kavanaugh's confirmation hearings.

Burt Reynolds | 1936–2018
Hollywood action star, known for machismo and wise-guy playfulness, dies at 82
Burt Reynolds's reign as a top box-office draw was bookended by tire-screeching fare such as "Smokey and the Bandit" (1977) and "The Cannonball Run" (1981), which largely cemented his onscreen persona as a carefree man's man with an arm around a lady and his foot on the gas pedal. Off-screen, the actor developed a reputation as a hard-drinking playboy whose charm alternated with a hair-trigger temper.
