News Alert: Trump confirms top North Korean official is on his way to New York for meetings about summit

As efforts go into overdrive to make the June 12 meeting between President Trump and Kim Jong Un happen, the president confirmed on Twitter that a North Korean official was on his way to New York. Kim Yong Chol, a four-star general who has been at the forefront of North Korea's diplomatic outreach, is expected to land in New York shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Kim Yong Chol, who is sanctioned by the United States for his involvement in North Korea's nuclear program and other illicit activities, will be the highest-ranking North Korean to visit the United States since Gen. Jo Myong Rok went to the White House to see President Bill Clinton in 2000, part of a denuclearization effort that went nowhere.
