World Alert: Armenian parliament votes against making opposition leader prime minister — a blow to country’s pro-democracy movement

The vote against Nikol Pashinyan came after weeks of protests in Armenia. The demonstrations drew 100,000 protesters to the streets of the capital of Yerevan and forced out Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan after a decade in power. Armenia's parliament voted 55 to 45 against making Pashinyan the new prime minister.
