President Trump made his remarks while meeting at his Mar-A-Lago resort in Florida with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Trump is expected to meet in late May or early June with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un following months of escalation tensions over North Korea's nuclear program. Trump said the United States "started talking to North Korea directly. We have had direct talks at very high levels, extremely high levels, with North Korea," Trump said. Trump said a meeting with Kim could still fall apart but expressed confidence that discussions have been going well. |
