Amid a surge in positive COVID-19 cases around the league that has shut down 10 of 32 teams and brought on an earlier-than-planned holiday recess, the NHL is officially withdrawing its players from competing at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.
