| The Commerce Department said it was adding the company to the list of entities with which trade is restricted, saying its activities "are contrary to the national security or foreign policy interests of the United States." In an investigation published in July, The Post and 16 other news outlets detailed the use of Pegasus spyware to monitor the cellphones of hundreds of politicians, journalists and human rights activists around the world. The U.S. also imposed sanctions on a second Israeli company, Candiru, as well as one from Russia and another from Singapore. |
