A U.S. official, speaking on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter on the record, said that U.S. officials now believe the plane was brought down by an Iranian air defense system Wednesday. President Trump was asked about the crash and said: "It's a tragic thing when I see that. It's a tragic thing. Somebody could have made a mistake on the other side. ... Not our system. No. It has nothing to do with us." Ukrainian investigators said they were also looking into engine failure or a terrorist attack as possible causes of the crash. |
