News Alert: The U.S. military is taking custody of two British men accused of involvement in Islamic State killings of American hostages

The men — part of a group of four British militants dubbed the "Beatles" by their hostages — and several dozen other high-value detainees are being transferred out of Kurdish custody in northeastern Syria because of fears the Turkish incursion into the area could jeopardize their continued imprisonment. U.S. officials hope to prosecute the two British men, Alexanda Kotey and El Shafee Elsheikh, but the ability to put them on trial rests on obtaining evidence from British authorities, a matter being litigated in the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.
