News Alert: Saudi Arabia's Aramco says attacks halted oil production by about half of kingdom's daily output; U.S. could tap reserves if needed

A statement from state-run oil giant Aramco did not indicate how long the oil production could be curtailed, but it will likely drive up oil prices on world markets. The Department of Energy said it was prepared to tap U.S. emergency oil reserves if necessary to cover supply disruptions. Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for what they described as a drone attack on two of Saudi Arabia's key oil facilities.
