President Trump's tweeted the warning as U.S. officials alleged that Cuba is fomenting violence in Venezuela through its support of President Nicolás Maduro. "If Cuban Troops and Militia do not immediately CEASE military and other operations for the purpose of causing death and destruction to the Constitution of Venezuela, a full and complete embargo, together with highest-level sanctions, will be placed on the island of Cuba," Trump wrote. Violent clashes erupted across Venezuela on Tuesday after opposition leader Juan Guaidó, who is backed by the Trump administration, launched what appeared to be a military-backed challenge to Maduro. |
