Speaking at his annual news conference in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin said President Trump's move to withdraw troops was appropriate because the U.S. presence in Syria is "illegitimate." He added that "serious blows" had been imposed on the Islamic State in Syria. "On this, Donald is right, I agree with him," Putin said. But analysts say the Islamic State remains a deadly insurgent force.
