News Alert: Top U.S. envoy to anti-ISIS coalition quits in protest of Trump's decision to withdraw troops from Syria

Brett McGurk, the presidential envoy for the global anti-Islamic State coalition, submitted his resignation letter on Friday, a day after Defense Secretary Jim Mattis quit. McGurk had told reporters this month before the president's decision that "it's fair to say Americans will remain on the ground after the physical defeat of the caliphate, until we have the pieces in place to ensure that that defeat is enduring."
