'There's been lies': Trump strongly critical of Saudi account of journalist's death
At the same time, he defended the oil-rich monarchy as an "incredible ally" and kept open the possibility that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman did not order Saudi agents to kill Jamal Khashoggi. The kingdom's claim that Khashoggi was killed after a fistfight escalated inside the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul was met with a torrent of international skepticism Saturday.
In Post interview, Trump calls Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed a 'strong person' who 'truly loves his country'
The president did not call for the ouster of the crown prince, instead praising his leadership and calling him "a strong person, he has very good control."

Amid Khashoggi uproar, Saudis rally around their prince
Even if they were stunned by the sudden admission of their government's involvement in the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi inside its consulate in Istanbul, very few Saudis would be courageous enough to publicly criticize the country's leaders — and in particular the crown prince.

Saudi explanation of Khashoggi's death is widely dismissed as a coverup
"We do not consent to this being covered up," Turkish ruling party spokesman Omar Celik said of the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Saudi authorities said an argument in its consulate in Istanbul led to a fatal brawl in which the Post contributor was killed — an explanation at odds with the conclusions of Turkish investigators.

Analysis: Nine key questions Saudi Arabia hasn't answered about Khashoggi's death
The kingdom's account of how the journalist died raises big questions: What happened and why? And how could Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman not have known?

In death, Saudi writer's mild calls for reform grew into a defiant shout
Jamal Khashoggi rattled Saudi officials with his restrained appeals for human rights, and his killing has transformed him into a powerful symbol for free expression.
