Hurricane Michael makes landfall in Florida Panhandle
The category 4 storm roared ashore with winds reaching 155 mph. The most devastating conditions were occurring in the eyewall along the coast Wednesday afternoon, but severe hurricane impacts are expected considerable distances inland as Michael moves north through the evening.
A rare 'extreme wind warning' was posted for Michael. Here's what that means.
This exceptionally dire warning is hoisted as a last resort — it's a forecast of winds at or above 115 mph. Residents should treat Michael's eyewall like a 15-mile-wide tornado.
 
Storm remains potent as it heads toward southwest Georgia
