World Alert: U.S. ambassador gives North Korea’s top diplomat a letter from Trump to Kim Jong Un at ASEAN summit

According to an account given by State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert, U.S. ambassador Sung Kim, traveling with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Saturday, gave the letter to North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho after Ri and Pompeo shook hands. Nauert said Pompeo told Ri, "We should talk again soon," and Ri replied in fluent English, "I agree. There are many productive conversations to be had." Nauert said that, beyond the brief exchange at a group photo during an ASEAN summit in Singapore, Pompeo and Ri did not have a more formal meeting.
