The meeting will focus on U.S. efforts to get North Korea to abandon its nuclear program, but in recent days, President Trump has tamped down expectations, saying the gathering this week will likely be the beginning of the process not the end. Trump has also said he is prepared to leave the summit if it is not producing results, while holding out the possibility of a White House visit for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un if it goes well. Kim arrived in Singapore earlier today. The summit is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. local time Tuesday (9 p.m. Eastern on Monday). |
