"Mission Accomplished!" President Trump tweeted, echoing language used by former president George W. Bush in 2003. For the time being, relief reigned as the West and most of its allies expressed support for action to curtail the threat of Syria's chemical warfare and backers of the Syrian government expressed outrage.
