Western powers warn Syria another strike is possible
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said that President Trump has drawn a red line and that the United States is "locked and loaded" if Syria uses chemical weapons again. Several diplomats warned of the potential danger that the crisis could spiral out of control to engulf the region and beyond. But one major worry appeared to ease: that the attacks could set off a direct confrontation with Syria's most powerful military partner, Russia.

Syria, Russia and Iran shrugged off strikes against three Syrian chemical weapons facilities, which drew angry condemnations but no indication of a wider escalation.
