News Alert: China threatens to raise tariffs on about $3 billion of U.S. imports if two sides fail to resolve trade dispute

China said the move comes in response to a previous U.S. move to raise tariffs on steel and aluminum, but it came only hours after President Trump announced he planned to impose a package of $60 billion in tariffs on Chinese goods. The Commerce Ministry said it compiled a list of 128 U.S. products that could be targeted if the two countries are unable to reach an agreement on trade issues. It proposed a 25 percent tariff on pork and recycled aluminum imports, and a 15 percent tax on a variety of other goods including fresh fruit and wine.
